Check Out My Town!
Our part of
paradise is guarded over by a picturesque lighthouse. Built between 1855 and
1860 the 105-foot structure is one of the most famous and lasting landmarks of
South Florida. This proud, red beauty is not just hostess to our annual Sea
Fare Festival but also an active lighthouse, visible 10 to 27 miles out to sea,
still warning ships of dangerous coastal shoals. Waterfront property is in
abundance with the miles of Intracoastal waterways, man-made canals and
riverfront. The boating in this area is unsurpassed. With an average
temperature of 75 degrees it is almost always a perfect day to go deep-sea
fishing, wake board or just cruise upriver. Did you know? Florida has over 663
miles of beaches, over 4,500 islands (greater than 10 acres) and 27 first
magnitude springs.
Beaches & Parks
Hobe Sound
Beach, where Bridge Road meets the Atlantic Ocean, has over 300 feet of white
sandy beach. Jupiter Beach, on Old A1A, also accommodates visitors with
lifeguards, restrooms, showers and covered picnic tables. Our beaches simply
sparkle. There are numerous other beaches as well. A crafty alligator, great
Blue Heron or even a deer may be spotted exploring any of the 10,000-acre
Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Go by canoe, it is unbelievable! Or make time
for a late night walk on the beach sometime between May and August and watch
the enormous leatherback sea turtles lumber their way ashore to lay their
eggs.
Golf & Tennis
Golfing is
another great pastime, and Palm Beach County is Headquarters.
We have numerous quality courses from public
to semi-private and private and for every level of play. Fazio, Nicklaus, Lee
and Dye are among the renowned golf architects that provide challenging local
courses. We have all the information you need for an afternoon golf game or
finding your perfect home right in view of your favorite course in any one of
our local resort club communities. For avid tennis players the same holds true.
There are several public spots and wonderful private club communities to play
to your heart's content.
Boating
Jupiter-Tequesta and Hobe Sound are all
a boater's paradise.
It's just minutes to the blue waters of the
Atlantic and only 3 ½ hours to the Bahamas by boat. If you are a sail
boater there are many homes on deep-water canals or directly on the
Intracoastal Waterway. Most all bridges on the deep water are draw bridges
(opening on demand) and one high stationary bridge leading up the Loxahatchee.
By the way, our Sport Fisherman has a 20' tuna tower and clears that bridge
easily. If you need to keep your boat in a marina there are plenty to choose
from, and if you prefer a dock in your own backyard, we will find it. There are
also charters available and of course, several different cruises.
